Although your wooden floors at home are far more resilient than carpet, especially where stains are concerned, this does not mean that they can’t be stained or marked over time. Our first advice is that prevention is better than the cure, but we all know that accidents do happen.
Knowing what caused the stain is always a help as there is always a remedy for most types of stains. For the purpose of this advice, we are assuming that this is a general stain. If there is a stubborn stain all the way across high traffic areas of your hardwood flooring then a full sanding and finishing service is most likely required to refurbish your flooring back to its original state. If you need to remove small random stains on your wooden floors then knowing what the stain looks like can give you an indication to how bad the stain is. If it is white, this usually means that the problem is on on the surface. If the stain is dark in colour then the problem has most likely penetrated the wood.
Stains that are mainly on the surface can be removed by rubbing fine wire wool that has been dipped in lemon oil on the hardwood flooring. the lemon oil prevents that abrasive wire wool from damaging the surface whilst removing the stain. The stain should disappear with very little work involved.
