Solid Wood Flooring Upstairs? Why not…

It never really crosses peoples mind to go for solid wood flooring upstairs in your home and most will opt for carpet, but why is this?  There really is no difference to having solid wood flooring upstairs or downstairs.  Most of the feedback we get is that, whilst downstairs you usually wear shoes and the floor is on a solid sub floor, whereas upstairs you tend to take your shoes of the flooring will be on floorboards.  With no shoes and floorboards underneath, surely the flooring is noisy and cold.

Well in answer to these concerns, we highly recommend solid oak flooring upstairs.  With no shoes on, the flooring is as quiet as carpet and wooden flooring has a warm feel and will also absorb warmth from downstairs along with central heating pipes.

Advantages to solid wood flooring upstairs

There are many advantages as to why you should have real wooden flooring upstairs:

1) Solid wood flooring is far easier to clean and maintain than carpet.  Any spillages, that can happen often in the bedroom can easily be mopped up.  Dust and dirt can be cleaned easily so no more dragging the hoover upstairs to clean these.

2) You can add scatter rugs to the flooring and these can be easily moved around and cleaned.  Any cold spots can be warmed up with a scatter rug and if you decide to change the decor of your room it won’t include replacing the whole carpet to match.

3) Carpets over time can become flat, worn and in some case start to smell if spillages and food have not been cleaned thoroughly.  With wooden floors, you can instantly get that fresh new smell back just by using a good floor cleaner and mopping the floor every now and again.

4) Wooden flooring is by far the most hygienic option for your room, especially your bedroom as dust and fibres are removed when you clean but tend to stay in carpet

Solid Wood Flooring Allergy Reduction

By installing solid wood flooring upstairs allergy sufferers will see benefits too as dust and fibres are easy to clean and sweep away so you can be assured of a better nights sleep and best of all, wake in the morning feeling fresh.
