Refinishing Your Hardwood Flooring Part 1

Sand and Seal Wooden Flooring

As hardwood flooring ages it can become increasingly scratched and lose its sheen, but this isn’t a reason to rip it up and buy new flooring as this is the beauty of dealing with real wood.  Hardwood flooring can stage a comeback to its former glory and you have to do is have it refinished.JG Flooring offer a refinishing service on hardwood floors to produce an as new finish to your floor using various techniques and professional sanding equipment.  Hardwood flooring can be refinished up to 12 times in its lifetime before it needs replacing.

The same process can be applied to engineered flooring, but as this type of flooring only has a top layer of real wood it can only be refinished up to 2 times.Where sanding your floor can be completed yourself, it does take a high level of expertise to create a professional finish. A simple mistake is extremely hard to rectify and can severely damage the floor.  The secret is in the machinery used.  JG Flooring use professional industry standard sanding machinery and tools, equipped for all jobs.  It’s these tools that can produce a stunning finish but also do a lot of damage if you do not have the expertise to use it correctly.

Hardwood flooring refinishing is a noisy, messy task, but we ensure that all of your furniture is completely protected before any work commences and if you are doing this yourself we recommend wearing all of the correct protective gear including, eye protection, ear protection and a dust mask as the dust can be quite harmful when breathed in.  All doorways should be sealed before work begins and any air conditioning  or heating switched off to prevent the dust circulating your home.

For minor scratches to your hardwood flooring you can use a simple electric or hand sander to gently buff the floor to remove the scratches.
