Although a cheaper alternative to real wood, laminate flooring is actually a preferred choice in many locations due to its durability, flexibility and comparisons to real wood. The click system used in laminate flooring makes it easy for the hobby DIY installer to perform simply jobs, although for the perfect finish we would recommend a professional floor fitter.
There are several different qualities of laminate flooring and you do get what you pay for. Cheaper options tend to be thinner, look less like real wood and usually wear much quicker. JG Flooring always choose high quality brands like Quick Step and Krono Original and Elko due to their outstanding quality whilst still making our quotes competitive.
We do often get asked to fit already purchased laminate flooring due to failed DIY attempts, but will always offer our advice if we feel the the flooring is sub standard.
With DIY projects in mind, we always stress that the easiest part of any floor laying project with laminate flooring is clicking together of the boards. What DIY stores fail to mention when promoting DIY projects is that most of the work and expertise in any project is the preparation of the subfloor and the finishing. There is nothing worse than a very expensive high quality flooring being badly fitted. It is a skill to cut the perfect angle, prepare door frames for seamless finishes and produce and flawless finish using laminate flooring to always ask for a fitting quote before attempting any project like this.
Laminate flooring is produced from MDF layers with a photographic image laminate to the top layer to give it that real wood look. It is because of this photographic laminate layer that you can choose from 100’s of colours and styles to match your interior.
