Christmas is supposed to be a time to unwind, eat good food, and spend time with family and friends, right? During the holidays, your home will undoubtedly be much busier than usual, with a lot of traffic coming in and out.
In light of this, we’d like to offer some tips on how to safeguard your wooden floors during this busy season. Putting up your decorations and tree is one of the rituals associated with the Christmas season.
Protect your wooden floors
Many of us enjoy going out and selecting a live tree to bring the holiday spirit into our homes. An artificial tree, on the other hand, usually comes with a metal stand that can scrape the floor. To avoid scratches on the floor, place a rug or mat under the stand before assembling the tree.
If you’re going to use a real tree, make sure it’s in a pot and that there’s something underneath it to catch any excess water that might seep onto the floor. The tree can hide spillages that you can’t see, and if left on the floor, it can cause warping over the Christmas season, which you won’t notice until after the holidays are gone.
If your tree is shedding needles on the floor, sweep them up periodically to avoid scratching them. Also, avoid placing the tree in a location where it may be knocked over by people walking by, since this will cause the needles to fall more frequently.
Christmas brings an influx of guests to your home. You’ll be busy all week with relatives and friends coming and leaving and there will be more traffic than normal, particularly if you are throwing a party.
