Wooden floors are much easier to clean than carpets and tiles. What makes it easier is that you can easily see the dust or dirt and no exactly where you have a mixed a bit after cleaning. Carpets can hold dust and dirt that you can’t see which is not great for allergies. Tiles on the other hand can be easy to clean until you come to the grout. Dirt and grime can build up in the grout and requires a lot of maintenance to keep clean.
Laminate wooden floors for example are the easiest of wooden floors to clean as the dirt and grime sits on top of the surface so can easily be wiped away. Real wooden floors and engineered wooden flooring can become a little more difficult to clean as over time, grime and dirt can build up in the grain if not maintained properly. We recommend that all types of flooring are kept maintained to keep their as new condition and they will last you much longer, thus reducing future refitting costs.
There are some great new tools available these days due to the increased popularity of wooden flooring. One clever idea is the spray mop that is specially designed for cleaning wooden floors which is accompanied with a wooden floor cleaning solution. Some spray mops are all in one and you fit the solution to the mop where other cheaper models require you to spray the flooring prior to mopping. Both devices are the perfect companion for keeping your wooden floors in tip top condition.
We have heard of clients using steam mops on their floors but we do not recommend this due to the amount of heat and moisture produced that can be forced between the flooring which could cause the floor to warp and twist out of shape. Do not use a regular mop and bucket as this also allows to much water to sit on top of the flooring.
Spray mops are designed to release the exact amount of moisture required to allow you clean the floor easily without too much sitting on the surface.
