So JG Flooring have just installed your gorgeous laminate flooring in you living room, study, bedroom, kitchen….It looks amazing right! Ok so maybe JG Flooring didn’t fit the flooring, we won’t hold this against you. We do however want your new flooring to always look amazing and last a long time.
You’re obviously very protective of your new floor but you can’t stop accidents from happening, the odd glass of wine knocked over, dropped bowl of cereal maybe? Well don’t cry over spilt milk (we’re allowed one pun) How do you go about cleaning laminate flooring to keep it in it’s original pristine condition with kids, pets or just lots of traffic coming through your home, well the following procedures will help.
Sweep you laminate flooring often
Generally, laminate flooring is resistant to scrapes and scratches but a build up of debris from shoes, small stones and dirt can eventually start to wear the surface. Gently sweeping with a soft brush will remove all the surface dirt and reduce this risk
Mop up any spillages immediately
It is extremely important not to leave standing water on the surface of the laminate flooring, although most a splash resistant, water can slap through the gaps if left to penetrate and due to the material laminate is made of, it can swell quite easily and quickly. Using a soft cloth, sponge or kitchen roll, soak up any spillages immediately. Never use abrasive products to scrub the stain as this can damage the floor
There are many products on the market designed for wooden flooring nd these are accompanied by an array of cleaning products these are great for deep cleaning the floor.
Cleaning stains and built up dirt
If you’re floor is looking dull and the shine has gone, or there is a build up of dirt or stains it is best to use a vinegar based product to gently clean the problem area. Again, do not drench the floor, if the product is a good brand it shouldn’t need much to remove the stain. Ensure the solution is wiped up immediately and don;t be tempted to leave it to soak into the stained or dirt
