We ensure the subfloor is suitable as well as the location of the flooring and will advise accordingly. However, after we have completed the floor fitting, it is up to you to ensure the wooden floor is maintained.
Preventative Procedures
It is important to ensure in the first instance that your hardwood flooring is not susceptible to damage. The preventative procedures can reduce the time for cleaning and help to avoid damage. At JG Flooring we suggest using mats in high traffic areas such as doorways and route to connecting rooms. Purchase some sticky floor protectors under chairs and tables so moving furniture won’t scratch the floor.
Make sure that the floor has been properly sealed to prevent leakages seeping between joints.
Caring For Your Hardwood Flooring
Cleaning is a simple task for you hardwood floors whether you choose to sweep the floor or use a vacuum cleaner. Once you have swept or vacuumed the floor for surface dust and dirt you can then apply a mop to remove stubborn stains, dirt and pet hair.
Dealing with Stubborn Stains
If you need to remove stains or marks from your hardwood flooring you need to know what finish is on the floor. If the scratch or stain is on the surface of the floor then it more than likely has a urethane finish, but if the scratch is embedded into the floor then it has probably got an oiled finish (usually found in established flooring). We advise that you never use abrasive or chemicals on the floor as they can cause permanent damage to the floor.
