Christmas is almost upon and here at JG Flooring we couldn’t be more excited after a fantastic year with fantastic clients. We’d all agree that Christmas is supposed to be a time to relax, enjoy delicious food and enjoy time with family and friends. Your home will no doubt be considerably busier than normal with lots of traffic coming in and out over the holidays. With this in mind we would like to give you some advice on how to protect your wooden floors during this busy time.
One of the traditions with the build to Christmas includes putting up your decorations and your tree. Many of us love going out and picking a real tree to get the festive smell in your home. The other option is an artificial tree which usually come with a metal stand that can scratch the floor. We recommend placing a rug or mat under the stand prior to erecting the tree to prevent any scratches to the floor.
If you are using a real tree ensure that it is in a pot and there is something underneath to catch any excess water that may leak onto the floor. The tree could hide and spillages that you can’t see and if left on the floor can cause warping over the Christmas period and you will only come to notice after the holidays.
If your tree is dropping needles on the floor, ensure that you regularly sweep them to prevent them being scratched under foot and try not to place the tree where it will be knocked by people walking past as this will cause the needles to drop more frequently.
